Our Indian head OR Ayurvedic face massage course is a pre-requisite for this course where we cover an Introduction to Ayurveda, the chakra system and marma point therapy.

This treatment is broken into 3 components; cleansing the foot with a hot towel followed by hot oil foot massage, marma point treatment and massage using a Kansa bowl. We will provide you with a bowl as part of your course fee.

Ayurveda considers the feet to be the foundation of the entire body. In the West feet are thought of as a structural foundation. In Ayurveda the feet are viewed from an essential functional perspective, meaning that any ‘weakness’ in the foundation (feet) leads to dis-ease, or impaired function throughout the body. Similarly, dis-ease within the body can manifest as weakness, discomfort, or imbalance in the feet as sensory, emotional or structural foundations

It is thought that stress in the body accumulates in the connective tissue lining the soles of the feet. We may not ‘feel’ this in the conscious awareness of day-to-day life, but it can reveal itself when attention is given to the feet through the application of pressure to marma points and the various connective tissues in the foot in pada abhyanga treatment. Holding stress in the body can lead to many of the modern-day lifestyle diseases that make up 75% of all health problems we see today (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, immune disorders, digestive problems, anxiety, insomnia).

Pada abhyanga stimulates each of the 5 Marma points on the foot that are considered to be vital points where the force of life (Prana) dwells. Caring for the feet with this ancient Ayurvedic treatment has great therapeutic importance beyond the ‘feel good’ treat, or relaxation intention of other foot massage techniques.

Traditional Indian foot massage (pada abhyanga) restores balance, activates the body’s natural immune response, promotes better sleep, increases blood circulation, improves lymphatic circulation, can help with digestive health, and is great for eye health!

At the heart of this treatment is a Kansa bowl which is a small handmade bronze bowl. The Kansa bowl can help to draw out heat from the body and provide a refreshing, but relaxing stimulation of the body’s energy channels.

Your investment $300 (Max 10 participants) course fee includes a kansa bowl
